Hello guys,

I haven’t been posted anything for the past few days as I was working on some random ideas of mine. Well, I’ve managed to finish LastProxy.com, a dual-head proxy site. It’s an experience I have to admit. I got much inspiration from the Sitepoint forum. The SP forum is excellent. I love the selling forum, where I can see what people are buying. It gave me a great motivation to sit down and produce something, then monetize it. And I love it. That was how LastProxy.com was born.

Working on LastProxy.com was really fun. I love the textbox on the arrow, I think it’s great. The layout can be alot cleaner but the ads cluttered it. I don’t mind too much though. The exciting part of the proxy game is to see the traffic from everywhere in the world pouring in. I’m amazed. LastProxy was released on July 29 but I started some advertising on Proxy.org. After that, traffic has been reall strong. I had about 2700 unique visitors in 3 days! That’s almost 900 unique/ day. And I haven’t done any MySpace advertising YET.

At first I had been quite skeptical about having a proxy site, but after lastproxy, I was convinced that people still need a good, decent proxy. I don’t say that lastproxy is a good proxy, as it’s been heavily modifications for advertisment, but it’s not bad either. I don’t have ads all over the place or try to trick people to click on it. Plus I throw in a RSS feed too! The proxied pages are filled with adbrite and adversal pop-unders. I feel bad about it as I’m doing what I abhor: having pop-up in my site! Nah, in the end, it’s all good for now as I don’t see any good reason to remove the pop-under ads either.

The revenue from Adsense is actually not too bad, for now it’s roughly a buck a day but I would say it’s going North. So the revenue from LastProxy is basically free money in exchange for a few days of my opportunity cost during the making of the site (which I reall had some fun.) After the month ends, I’ll donate a portion of the revenue to the Red Cross. I’m lucky to be here in the States, and I’m grateful for that. There are less fortunated people in the world. While I’m getting money from Adsense, why don’t I redistribute the wealth to make the world a better place to live? My money donated to the Red Cross will go a long way to help the suffering and the poor. Maybe it’s not much, but $3 or $5 bucks can save someone’s life. You just never know.

Yeah, talking about advertisment, I’m sorry about putting up ads in here, alexle.net, and messing up all the layout. I never want to have any ads in here, my homepage. However, after working on lastproxy, I do believe that I can get something out of my personal blog. Maybe a couple bucks a month but it helps pay for the hosting, you know. I don’t plan to put much ads on the frontpage, but on each individual pages, I will be blending some in. That’s fair. I know that I do write on a variety of topics so Adsense would work really well on individual pages.

The first thing I’m doing is to modify the plaintxt wordpress theme I’m currently using. I love the simplicity and the cleaness of the theme. However, it’s time to add some “alexle-ness” to it. Some stripes, anyone?

Until then, please keep surfing anonymously at http://www.lastproxy.com and support the Red Cross.
